Thank you for the story! I've been listening to the song by Peter Yeates for 15 years and it's good to hear more of the details.

If you've not heard it, this is the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jloucBlaAsM

Thanks Luke,
I'll try and search out that radio programme you mention - sounds very interesting.
Here's a video of Perec being interviewed about Belleville and rue Vilin: www.ina.fr/art-et-culture/litterature/video/I04272352/le-belleville-de-georges-perec.fr.html
best,

hi,

sounds good, I will try to buy a copy.

I posted a little video from Rue Vilin once on Vox blog but the site is defunct now - may have the files somewhere. More pertinently though there wasa radio programme where they interviewed people on rue Vilin I link to it in 2006, http://www.radiofrance.fr/chaines/france-culture2/emissions/surpris/fiche.php?diffusion_id=45132 but it is gone from the France Culture site now..argh! however I may or may not have a recording of it - will let you know if I locate it. Otherwise contact them - am sure htey would let you have it? It was good, 40 minute documentary I think. Love Perec, especially his readings of Paris.

Absolutely superb project, well done!

I traveled the entirety of that line recently and was struck by the isolation of the stops - posters are a small but significant way of tying the amenity into the community.

Now if you could get vending machines installed at the changeover stop at belgard so I can get a packet of Hunky Dorys and a Starbar, I'll be a happy camper ;)
